The chemical composition of tungsten wire is a core factor determining its overall performance. Tungsten wire is a high-performance metal material primarily composed of high-purity tungsten, manufactured through powder metallurgy, hot isostatic pressing, and multiple stages of cold drawing. Its unique characteristics include a high melting point of approximately 3422°C, excellent electrical conductivity, a high temperature coefficient of resistance, a low coefficient of thermal expansion, and strong thermal shock resistance, making it widely used in lighting, vacuum electronic devices, heating elements, semiconductor heating, and scientific research applications.

The performance of tungsten wire depends not only on the purity of tungsten but also on the influence of trace impurity elements. The dissolution and distribution of different elements within the tungsten crystal lattice directly affect the mechanical properties, electrical and thermal properties, and high-temperature stability of tungsten wire. Specifically, trace amounts of Mo (molybdenum) help improve lattice stability and high-temperature creep strength; excessive Fe (iron) promotes grain growth and reduces ductility; Co (cobalt) can improve grain refinement and high-temperature plasticity; Ni (nickel) and Cu (copper) are electrically sensitive impurities, and excessive content can reduce electrical conductivity and affect corrosion resistance; C (carbon) tends to form carbides, reducing ductility; O (oxygen) can cause embrittlement at elevated temperatures, affecting strength and thermal stability; N (nitrogen) forms nitrides at high temperatures, increasing brittleness; and Si (silicon), mainly introduced during powder processing or from atmospheric contamination, can negatively affect mechanical properties when present in excess.
